Voyager Technologies CEO Dylan Taylor said humans “will definitely be living and working in space” and that the next step is the moon, with that shift happening in the 2030s, probably early 2030s, he said in comments published by Fortune. Taylor also said the public could eventually “look up at the moon and see lights on the moon,” tying the forecast to a permanent moon base rather than a short visit. The timeline matters because it moves the idea from a distant concept to a date range people can picture.
Taylor linked that forecast to work already happening in orbit today. He noted that humans have been continuously aboard the International Space Station for 26 years, which he described as proof that space-based work is already real on a small scale. He said the current effort is to scale that from a limited astronaut corps to broader commercial use.
